A bank built around the everyday saver
Mega Bank Nepal Limited was an “A” class commercial bank licensed by Nepal Rastra Bank. Founded in July 2010 and headquartered at Rising Mall, Kamaladi, Kathmandu, it grew in a little over a decade into a nationwide network of branches, ATMs, branchless banking centres and remittance agents.
What set Mega Bank apart was how personal its product shelf was. Rather than one generic savings account, it built accounts for specific people: students and young savers, women entrepreneurs, salaried employees, professionals, shareholders, families receiving remittance and customers banking in foreign currency. Alongside those sat home, auto, SME, professional and phone loans, fixed deposits and a full Visa debit, credit and prepaid card range.

A product for nearly every kind of customer
In January 2023 Mega Bank and Nepal Investment Bank merged and began joint operations as Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited (NIMB), one of the leading commercial banks in the country.
Why Mega Bank came to us
The branch network had grown fast. The bank wanted its digital presence to keep pace: products that people could find when they searched, branches they could find on a map, and a clear view of which products were drawing real interest online.
Dozens of products, one crowded search results page
Savings, loan and card pages were competing with every other bank for the same searches, like “home loan” or “savings account”, without pages clearly aligned to what each customer was actually looking for.
Branches and ATMs that had to be found on Google Maps
A fast-growing network of branches and ATMs needed verified listings, plus a dependable way to add new locations and update existing ones as the network kept expanding.
No clear read on which products drew interest
The bank had no clear, product-by-product view of which pages were creating interest, so marketing decisions were harder to back with evidence.
A digital team that needed extra hands
The bank’s in-house team needed a technical partner who understood search, measurement and the website side by side.
What we did for Mega Bank
We worked alongside the bank’s team as its search, local and analytics partner, starting with a strategy session in February 2021.
Rankings for competitive banking searches
Research into how customers search for banking products, followed by optimisation of the bank’s product and service pages. Banking is one of the most contested categories in search, so each account, loan and card page had to earn its place.
- Rankings for competitive banking terms on Google
- Product pages aligned with how customers search
- Loan pages positioned for high-intent searches
Every branch and ATM verified on Google Maps
We verified all of the bank’s branch and ATM listings on Google Maps, then built the base and the system the bank used to add new locations and edit existing ones, so customers searching nearby always found the right name, address and hours.
- All branches and ATMs verified on Google Maps
- A system for adding and editing locations as the network grew
- Consistent names, addresses and hours across every location
A measurement plan for every product
A measurement framework built around the way the bank thinks about its products, so interest in each account, loan and card could be read on its own and marketing could be judged on evidence.
- Measurement across product and service pages
- Enquiries and applications read product by product
- Reporting grouped by product family
International finance directory listings
Profiles on international finance and banking directories, built with the same details everywhere so search engines, partners and customers see one consistent picture of the bank.
- 52 international finance directory profiles
- Consistent name, address and contact details
Social media audit and roadmap
A review of the bank’s social media presence, benchmarked against peer banks, with a practical roadmap the team could act on straight away.
- Channel-by-channel review of the bank’s social presence
- Benchmarking against four peer banks
- A prioritised roadmap for the in-house team
Support for the in-house team
Hands-on technical help for the bank’s digital team, so search and measurement recommendations actually made it onto the website.
- Technical setup support
- Website change support for the in-house team
How the engagement unfolded

- Through 2021
Search, maps and local presence
Product and service pages optimised for competitive banking searches, every branch and ATM verified on Google Maps, and international finance directory profiles built.
What the bank came away with
A product-level view of interest
For the first time, requests, applications and downloads could be read product by product and family by family.
Every branch and ATM on the map
All branches and ATMs verified on Google Maps, a system to add and edit locations as the network grew, and 52 matching international finance directory profiles.
Rankings for competitive terms
Loan, savings and card pages that ranked for competitive banking searches, written in the words customers use rather than internal product names.
For a bank with a product for nearly every kind of saver, the job was simple to state and detailed to deliver: make every product and every branch easy to find, and make interest in each one measurable.
