In Nepal, “doing a Facebook boost” has become shorthand for Facebook advertising itself. Tap Boost Post, pick a budget and a rough audience, let it run for a few days, watch the likes climb. It feels like advertising because money is being spent and a result is visible. It is a genuinely limited tool, though, and understanding why matters before spending another rupee on it.

Boosting a post uses a simplified version of Meta’s ad system, built to promote engagement on that one specific post, likes, comments, shares, reach. It has narrow targeting options compared to the full Ads Manager, no access to Meta’s conversion-optimized delivery algorithm, and critically, no meaningful tracking of what happened after someone saw the ad. Did they visit the website? Did they message the page? Did they buy? Boosting cannot answer any of that.

We want to be direct about positioning: we do not offer “Facebook boosting” as a service, because boosting is not advertising, it is a promotion feature with training wheels. When a prospective client asks us to “boost a few posts,” the first conversation is usually showing them, using their own numbers, what the same monthly budget would do inside a properly structured Meta advertising campaign instead, more precise targeting, real tracking, and delivery optimized for an outcome that matters to their business rather than raw engagement.
